Banka district General information
Banka is a district in the state of Bihar in India. The district, part of Bhagalpur Division, has its headquarters at Banka town. The district occupies an area of 3018 km² and has a population of 1,608,778 (as of 2001).

The district has a total population of 150,113 of which 145,560 are rural and 4,553 are urban.

Culture
There is very famous temple of MATA DURGA in KARHARIA, Banka. Every year during durga pooja, lots of devotees from many parts of country visit this temple. There is a small mountain which is made of one large stone height about 500 meter Wee Known As MANDAR PARBAT. At the top two temple is made one is MANDAR MADHUSUDAN and other is DIGAMBER JAIN TIRTHANKAR. At the bottom of MANDAR PARWAT one MAA LAKXMI temple is made in front of PAAPHARNI POND ( Its water is so pure that one bath makes you free from all disease). There is a old university known as MANDAR VIDYAPITH established by MADHBANJI well-known poet and fellow of FORMER PRESIDENT OF INDIA DR. JAKIR HUSSAN. Inside this university one secondary school also established known as ADWAT MISSION for the rural people of MANDAR region. One village name LAKHPURA known for its famous temple OF KALI literally called LAKHPURA KALI is situated 2km from MANDAR PARBAT. This is a right mix of culture and tradition.
